Review

Static is framed for robbery by a has-been TV actor.

Johnny Morrow, a former child star robs a jewelry store. Static catches up to him and realizes he is a Bang Baby--with the ability to duplicate himself. "Replay" tells Static that he is loved now but that people will turn on him. After a battle in a fun house Static loses track of Morrow.

Morrow then decides to duplicate Static and use him to commit further robberies. People are stunned than Static has turned criminal and even Richie doesn't belive Static is innocent. Static appeals to Richie to make a remote Shock Box that can pick up conversations held by the fake Static and Morrow.. He drives Morrow into a TV studio and cameras capture images of the two Statics and Morrow's confession which Richie braodcasts on national television. Static defeats Morrow and his name is cleared.

I really don't like this episode too much. It has the same plot as every other Spider-Man cartoon and offers nothing to the "hero is framed" cliche. It doesn't help that Replay is an annoying villian. I'm sure the producers thought it would be cute to have him voiced by Doogie Howser M.D's Neil Patrick Harris but I've always found his voice grating. The episode IS notable as the first and only DCAU episode to use the word "sucks". But I'm not sure that's an accomplishment that makes the episode worthwhile.

I didn't notice anything wrong with the animation in the episode but it didn't "wow" me either. Static Shock has produced much better episodes and this is probably the weakest one of the first season.
