Review

Static visits Africa and teams up with hero Anansi the Spider.

Virgil and his family are vacationing in Africa and Robert is telling him about African history when they meet a professor studying archeology on a train. The train is board by Osebo the Leopard who takes a map from the professor to a lost city of gold when the local superhero Anansi the Spider shows up and saves the people on the train. Static puts a tracer on Osebo and waits for a chance to tell Anansi this.

When he meets Anansi he tells him about the tracer and that he is a superhero too. They follow the tracer to a dam which is on top of the gold that Osebo plans to destroy. Anansi and Static stop him. Static tells Anansi how good it is too have a black superhero to look up to and Anansi says Static is HIS hero.

This was a great episode. Anansi is a cool character and very funny as voiced by Carl Lumbly. I also liked the part where Static feels so comfortable in Africa because he isn't a black kid, just a kid. I learned a whole bunch of stuff about Africa that I didn't know before. I also liked the part where Static tells Anansi that he wishes there was a black superhero back home but I have to wonder how he could have forgotten about Green Lantern. As it stands this was a great character piece for Static and I was impressed at how well done the episode was.

The animation was fine here and I didn't notice any mistakes. The episode looked great. I liked the episode a lot because of the insights it gave to Virgil and his family.
