Review
Talk about character progression! With one single episode, Ro’s
character gets as deep as Zeta’s and almost stronger emotionally. We
learn about her foster parents, her running away from them and that she
has a brother that’s still living (who we see in season two). They
really packed a lot in here and Zeta took an (appropriate) back seat for
almost the entire episode.
I can’t really say enough about this episode; it’s always great when you
get more back-story to go with your characters and the sheer amount
that’s given to Ro in this episode can change your whole perspective on
her. The series really doesn’t hit many low points after this and it’s a
great thing; after this you want more from these characters and the
show, for the most part, delivers.
Another geek moment was the first appearance of “schway” from this
series; as a continuation from Batman Beyond, I always thought it was
odd more dialogue from that era wasn’t thrown in. Now, here it is, with
a lot more coming in later season two episodes. It was just a neat
addition for fans of both shows to pick up on.
Great character moments between Ro and Tiffy (and Zee as “Adam Heat”)
were abound in this episode as well. It’s a shame we didn’t see more of
her character in later episodes, as you really started to enjoy her and
Ro’s banter by the end of the episode.
Overall, it was an extremely good episode. The character development was
the highlight, but the animation and sound helped it along. Definitely
recommended and an essential episode to view if you want to learn the
basics of The Zeta Project.
